Melanie Jones - Practice Manager
Prior to starting work at Heene Road Vets, Melanie worked for a bank for 10 years and subsequently left this post to start a family.
In 1999, Melanie was employed as a receptionist at the surgery which she really enjoyed as she liked dealing with the public and meeting all the animals. In January 2009, she took on the role of Practice Manager and is enjoying the challenges this new position presents.
She likes walking with her border terrier called Ted, although they do have a tendency to get lost and Mel says she's working on her map-reading.
Louise Shanley - Head Receptionist
Louise joined Heene road vets in July 2003, though has been a client of the practice since 1986. In June 2012 she was delighted to be promoted to head receptionist, which is a role she is thoroughly enjoying. Louise previously worked as a GP receptionist for 12 years but working at Heene feels she has the best of both words meeting people and animals.
Louise owns 3 border collies, Luca, Jed and Tia, collectively known as "The Hairies". They used to compete at Fly Ball and Agility, and ran a Fly Ball team "Patching Panthers" with friends. They were astounded to come in at 1st Place at their very first competition five years ago. The hairies retired competing in 2013.
She enjoys walking with the hairies, photography and baking (though sadly not up to the standard of the Great British Bake Off, which she loves to watch).
Kerry Ireland - Deputy Head Receptionist
Kerry has worked in the finance/banking industry for most of her working life until Jan 2015 when she decided to take a change in career and do something she would enjoy more. Kerry is enjoying her new career as she loves to meet new people and give lots of attention and cuddles to animals especially dogs.
In the past Kerry has had horses, dogs and a few small animals.
Kerry currently has two cocker spaniels, Buster & Bruiser who are much loved and part of the family. Kerry loves to take them on nice long walks, down the beach for a swim or a park for a game of ball.
Angela Hammond - Receptionist
Angela has worked at the Goring branch of our practice as a receptionist for 12 years. Prior to this, she was employed by BT for twenty-one years beginning as an operator and ending as a technical officer, building and testing software for telephone systems for customer sites. She took early retirement from BT in the year 2000 and in 2001 she worked for West Sussex Doctors on call for six months. After a short break she began working for the Heene Road Vets at the Goring surgery.
Her enthusiasm for the job shows as she meets and greets our clients and their pets and puts the world to rights with them! She lives in Ferring with her husband Dave and their feisty border terrier Dolly. Her spare time is spent taking long walks with Dolly, travelling, reading, dining with friends, watching soaps on the TV and going with her husband to the occasional football match. Dolly's hobbies are eating, long walks, sleeping and sometimes starting "punch-ups" with other dogs. She also adores holidays in Cornwall and in the south of France where she is fluent in "Le Woof"!
Ashley Klee - Receptionist
Before working in the Veterinary industry Ashley worked in Security until 2007 when she moved to California. Ashley has trained as a Pet Nurse in the USA but is currently enjoying work as a part-time receptionist at Heene Road Vets since November 2015.
Ashley has two children, Luke & Erika, who are her world & keep her on her toes when she is not at work. When Ashley does get some free time she like to go to the cinema or get pampered at a spa but mostly she likes to relax with family & friends.
